Commission FAQs
How does payment work?
Once we have settled on your “vision” for the piece. I will invoice you a 50% deposit to begin the work. Once work is completed, you will be sent digital images of the item to confirm that it is to your liking. After you have approved the piece. I will send a final invoice with the other 50% of the item plus shipping. Items WILL NOT be shipped until the final invoice is paid.
How much is shipping?
Shipping costs depend on the size and weight of the piece. Shipping pottery usually starts at $9 for a mug, but can be as much as $40 for very large items.
How much do commissions cost?
Commissions start at $60 for mugs and increase in price beyond that. Most bowls and plates start at $90. Commission pricing is based off of the size of the piece and materials used as well as the time it will take me to make the piece and paint it. Please understand that while I do my best to accommodate your budget, my pricing is not negotiable.
Are Commission fees refundable?
The 50% deposit is non-refundable once work begins. If I have started working on your piece, I cannot refund the 50% deposit as this helps cover the cost of my time and materials. Once you receive the item, the total commission fee is also not refundable. In the event that an item breaks during shipping, I always include shipping insurance on items so that your work can either be refunded or recreated at no cost to you or myself.
What kind of commissions are available?
I am always happy to try new things which means that I love creating new objects, or painting motifs I haven’t tried before. However, please understand that my artistic style is important to me, and I will not work outside of that style. I typically stick to nature-inspired motifs and would love to create a piece for you that includes your favorite plant, flower, critter, or fruit. I do not do portraits, however. I also DO NOT recreate other artists’ work.
How long do commissions take?
The time a commission will take depends on both the size and detail of your piece as well as my personal schedule and other commissions I have at that time. Please understand that in addition to your piece, I have two young children and I also frequently do shop updates and markets to keep my business running. Commissions cannot be promised in less than 4 weeks though I try and complete them faster if possible. Commissions are first-come first-serve. If all commission spots fill, you will be placed on a waitlist for the next round of commissions. I will contact those on the waitlist first before announcing commission openings on my social media or website.
